With the FX5200 DS2 ran at about 25~30FPS with shadows off and no shaders. The Athlon 64-2800 originally had an FX5200 in it, and gave 3Dmark03 of just over 1000. I'm only setting colour depth to 16bit in DS2 because 32 bit slugs the FPS even more. There's barely any background processes active, Norton AV on the 2800 and AVG AV on the 3000 so it doesn't look like there's anything running behind DS2 that's hogging resource. Neither reports any problems from DxDiag. I've patched DS2 to v2.1 and to v2.2 without improvement in FPS.īoth systems have latest NIVIDIA drivers and WinXP patched up to date. I've poor FPS on my two systems considering their spec, both have NVIDIA GPUs. Also changing video drivers does not help.and ATI's 5.9 catalyst is no better than 5.7 or 5.8.and it will be almost november before another one comes out.sigh, this is VERY frustraiting.also, the reason your fps got bad in one day.probably it was bearly keeping it at 30.then you hired a couple other party members and such.then BAM no more fps for you. Also the Gas powered games garage has about 100 people with this problem, and again, no one knows why, and as others have stated it doesn't seem to matter what resolution or bpp or how many extra's you run on your video card, almost like the game has some sort of imposed limit it strives to always reach.unfortunatly that limit is about 25fps, and using the command line option maxfps does nothing to help. This is a wonderful game, but it quickly becomes a doorstop if you can't play it faster than 10fps on reletivally newer-high end hardware. Also, on my system when I do the "raise app priority" it doesn't actually do anything to the app priority, I have even tried raising it manually, and it just goes right back to "normal". To tell you how drastic of things we tried.I disabled ALL startup programs, that did not help, it is my firm belief that this problem exsists IN the game itself, and is probably nothing more than a video buffer or memory timing issue.and I had another thought, my video card is an ALL-IN-Wonder.this model has different memory than all the other 9800's, it has a 256bit addressing uld this make a difference.yes, but is that the problem? who knows. I have now spent more than 3 hours chatting with technical support, and having tried a stunning array of things, none of which worked. Yes the verifydata command is no longer on Microsofts "command line" page.you can thank me for that. for you hard-core fixers, I reinstalled the game using my other cd rom the second time just to make sure there wasn't a translation error.is it possible that microsoft had a bad batch? Once I patched it to v2.10 I recieved the same error as above I was wonderfing if in fact all the people with "bad fps" have this problem as it seems to not be graphics card specific. Upon running this I almost immeadiatly get an error that one of my EXE files is corrupt, and of course microsoft suggests you reinstall, so I do, this time I run in with just the standard version 2.0 and I get the same EXE error with different checksum numbers. I have patched it to version 2.1-this becomes important later. ![]() I saw on microsofts help page the command line option verifydata=true and so I figured what the heck. Also when I move around in DS2 the slowdown appears to be software related as the HD light does not come on the game just runs slowly. My Hd is defragmented and there are no errors on it. Does anyone have any idea why this game is running so slowly-and how do I make it fast like it should be.some other notes: I am running symantec anti-virus corperate 10.x but but otherwise nothing else. I have tried uninstalling then reinstalling my video card drivers (catalyst 5.8) but that hasn't helped, and I might add my other games all run flawlessly (counter-strike:source-75fps). I have all options set to max, BUT when I set everything to the lowest the performance is identical, all the revies and such that I see say that with this setup I should enjoy no slowdowns even if there are 15 enemies at once on the screen. ![]() I have an ATI All-IN-Wonder 9800 Pro, epox motherboard, AMD 2400+ that runs (un modified) at 2000Mhz, 1 Gig of Ram, Sound blaster 5.1.WHY does my game run so slowly, if I just stand the fps are usually about 28, as soon as I move it drops to 14-18, and if there are enemies moving/attacking it drops to less than 10 (usually 8.8 is about the lowest).
